Dog Training Myths Debunked by Top Dog Trainer

Rabu, 25 Mei 2016

When dog obedience training techniques prove to be stumbling blocks in your dog human relationship, it can be helpful to put the dog training truck in reverse.

Good dog obedience training programs will not only offer dog training tips, but will reject combative dog training techniques that break down trust and consistency. A dog obedience training system is only as good as its resulting dog human relationship.

On that note, I’d like to offer a sampling of some dog training myths. These are ideas perpetuated by foolish dog training techniques.

Myth: Crates are for punishment. Fact: When a dog is banished to his cage as punishment, he will begin to believe that every time you ask him to go into it, he’s being reprimanded. This misplaced crate training punishment can be especially harmful when training puppy.

Myth: Grooming puppies will always be difficult. Fact: Puppy care doesn’t have to be a struggle if you teach your little guy that nail trimming, tooth brushing, and ear cleaning are fun. When you call your puppy, grab him, hold him down, and perform scary and unfamiliar procedures on him, he’ll never forget this negative puppy training.

Myth: Pee and poop punishment works. Fact: Dog house training is successful when approached with a positive attitude. Reward for good puppy potty training responses, rather than punishing when accidents occur. Housetraining is complicated by nose-rubbing and yelling. Training your dog in this area will never be accomplished with a combative attitude.

Myth: Some dogs love to bark. Fact: Incessant dog barking is not natural. To stop your dog from barking persistently, you must identify the cause of the barking and then adjust the dog’s environment. There are plenty of positive ways to train your dog to control his barking.

Myth: Training is unnecessary for smart dogs. Fact: Often, dog owners shun adopting any dog training program if they believe their dog is highly intelligent. All dogs crave leadership, say top dog training schools . Labrador training, terrier training, and training German shepherd may differ slightly, but dog obedience training is largely universal for all breeds.

Myth: Puppy biting is aggressive behavior. Fact: Actually, puppy biting is an unavoidable part of your dog’s adolescence. But puppy biting must be controlled, and puppies must also be taught to control their bite strength when playing.

Myth: All dogs dig and chew. Fact: Dog owners have the power to stop digging and chewing behaviors of their dogs. Often, it’s simply a matter of replacing bad habits with good ones.

Myth: Dog walking comes naturally. Fact: Asking a dog to walk on a leash rarely goes smoothly from the start. Yanking on your dog’s neck, or employing other types of punishment, will never contribute to peaceful dog walking. Proper k9 training is the only route to dog walking success.

Myth: Dogs understand spontaneity. Fact: Dog training works best when it’s used with consistency, even after a dog training program is completed. Assuming that a dog will be able to recall good behaviors, without them being practiced with predictability, can be detrimental to dog obedience training results.

Myth: Training without food is effective. Fact: Immediate rewards of food are essential in dog obedience training. Food is what your dog desires the most. That means you will get the biggest return from your dog training efforts when you offer food rewards. Praise is great, but assuming it’s enough, especially when training puppy, can have a backpedal effect.

Myth: Dogs remember mistakes. Fact: If your dog runs away, and you scold him upon his return, you’re teaching him that it’s bad to come back to you. When training a dog, it’s important to understand that he associates rewards and punishments with the action performed immediately preceding your reaction.

Regardless of your dog’s breed, your dog obedience training success hinges upon your understanding of the effects of a positive, proactive attitude.

Increase dog training dividends by investing wisely in words and actions that speak to your dog’s sense of fun and need for quality time. Remember, the dog obedience training battle shouldn’t be a battle at all.

PEEPODAY NEAR HAYFIELD

Selasa, 24 Mei 2016

Arrived at the trial with proceedings halted due to fog. An hour or so later it lifted to gradually reveal a sunny day for most of the day. When I left Skye was 4th with the sheep difficult on the turn but manageable and difficult to pen as they always seem to be at this trial. Mac was unlucky to have his outrun interupted by the handlers at the top sending their dog round the sheep to bring them back onto the letting out post just before he arrived. Unfortunately Mac was drawn in and the sheep were already upset . The fetch was not good but he receovered well up to the crossdrive gates after which one ewe decided she did not want to play and set of on her own agenda. I wasted no further time and let the others try their luck.

Trials are drawing to a close at the moment which is a shame as this is the first time in ages I have spent so much time training my own dogs all year and the improvement is evident, even if lady luck has her loyalty misplaced at the moment.

Two more trial left. Skye and Mac have both qualified for the Midshires Championship but unfortunately I have work commitments in Devon. Pity the more sheep Mac has to play with the better he runs.

Speaking to a number of handlers this week who have competed at the early Derbyshire nurseries the sentiment has been clear from some: "I wish I hadnt have taken my dog to nurseries as more harm was done than good" Sheep have a way of teasing young dogs and provoking mistakes - maturity sometimes brings a better set of tools enabling young dogs to cope better.

On second thoughts I will keep Jake at home for a few weeks more.

Bertie Langton Beginners and Inters

Kamis, 12 Mei 2016

Beginners

Young Dotty  a collie course started a few weeks a go a bit of a handful, barking pulling but what a transformation a few weeks can make. Positive and calm handling on the part of his owners has transformed this young pup into a calmer more biddable dog that is now showing tremendous promise. The journey is not over yet but the potential of this dog is evident to all and I for one am looking forward to seeing this pup develop.

Inters

The inters continued their good work from last week and it is a joy to work with this committed group of dog handlers who are finding success easy to come by although probably are not so positive as I am. Now the basics have been consolidated the members are now able to undertake more work orientated exercises such as scent and nosework.

There are still a few laces left for the sheep social on Sunday 1st April if anyone is interested.

KENNEL COUGH UPDATE DISGUST !!

Rabu, 11 Mei 2016

A very big thanks you to Mike Thorn  (Country Vet) for not only coming out to Church Langton yesterday but also for being generous in offering a greater than 50% discount on the price of the vaccination. His efforts were appreciated by the dog owners that came. Some poeple declined the offer as they had already booked in with their own vet later in the week. The average cost of a kennel cough vaccine is between £32-£37 pounds according to our research.

One lady asked me if she thought her vet would be upset if she had her kc jab elsewhere for £15. I pointed out that if he cared for her dogs welfare he would have offered a generous discount in the first place. I have been informed this week that the mark up on animal drugs is about 400% but have yet to see the evidence, although most people who farm will tell you that this is a true reflection.

One bertie member rang me to ask if while she was bringing her dogs for a vaccination Mike would mind looking at a growth that one of the dogs had. Last year she had a similar growth removed for about £200 plus and the same operation this year was quoted at £500 plus. Not only that but she was also charged a consultation fee of £26. Mike examined thoroughly, wanting to make sure his diagnosis was accurate and confirmed he had removed a smimilar lump (a wart) on a labrador at a local farm for £15 but if the dog was take to the surgery the cost would be £80. I wonder if this ladys vet will be upset if she goes to another vet? By the way Mike did not charge her for this consultation.

Recession or not we keep paying out for vet fees and they keep taking the money.

Just for good measure Mike was brilliant with both the dogs and also the owners, something that many people report is lacking from their vet.

Next year we will organise a clinic before a problem arises.

Bertie Beginner and Inters

The last 4 months has marked the best period of training and commitment I have seen for many months. Members have shown tremendous commitment to the club and more importantly to their dogs at both Oadby and Church Langton venues.

Many people find the training process difficult however for me the basic ingredients are:

to keep things simple

be confident

expect to succeed

stay silent where possible  - remember body language is also another form of communication

trust your own judgement and learn to observe your dogs body language

focus on what you are doing and less so on the dog

if you are having fun your dog will pay you more attention

practice 4 times a day and not when you are taking the dog for a walk.

We will be outdoors as of next week so please bring sun cream, parasoles, plenty to drink etc

We serving our customers since 2007 we believe in providing you best quality of Dogs and Puppies Training Programs according to the costumer need, Breed of dog and Purpose Requirement.

Dog training at home is easy and effective way to train your puppy or dog. Every thing starts with you how u train your dog at home. When you train your dog yourself dog come to know your importance and regard you.

Importance of Dog Training

Dog Training plays an important role in the life of dog and his owner as they both are bounded and committed to each other. It is the same happiness you feel when your kid goes to pre-school and learn many thing. So it is the moral responsibility of a owner to train his dog step by step according to his aspirations.

Stages of Dog Training

There are different stages involve in dog training which starts from very first month with puppy socialization training then comes to puppy first year training after that dog training followed by advance dog training.

Why Dog Owner Should Impart Dog Training To His Dog ?

If you really love your dog do take some time for him to impart dog training. Its just sparing some for dog training 5 to 10 min in the binging which gradually increase time to time and according to willingness and self schedule. Remember dog respect the trainer as he starts giving more importance to you this the thing I hear from my costumers who impart dog training by there self some share there bad experience when they send there dog out on training for a month or so I came to here that there dog does not get good diet as he is getting some says there dog get sick after that dog training etc. I want to tell you why it happens ? Suppose you send your Dog on a dog training program and u paid a good amount of money actually its not a fault of dog trainer as he had to train many dogs so they are always in hurry and your dog never get time to rest and practice as every thing go too fast this is my experience that I came to know may be its not true every one have his other way of thinking.

Training also include some of best doctors advice that you have to take care off with your puppy.

What You Get In DOG TRAINING COMBO PACK ?

Puppy Socialization Training

All right you guys now have wonderful puppy in your home and now you are wounding what do i do ? Because some times when you start feeding puppy into your home it works really well and some times you may have some problems it may be chewing it may be housebreaking or kinds of things which you may have problems with your puppies and so it is difficult to melt them into your house. When you bring the puppy home he is thinking every thing changes he is not use to the enviournment he get over there and when you try to mold the puppy in human pack he is unable to get what is going around you think he will react as a human but he react as a dog. Puppy Socialization Training help you to bring the feeling of belongings in your puppy and to adjust in new enviournment in a friendly way it also help puppy to understand relation between puppy and you. You will also come to know what you have to restrict your puppy from and what you have to let him do. Puppy Socialization Training also helps you to get medical advice, Puppy diet, Puppy Potty, Puppy Toilet info etc more over if you take care of ur puppy according to this training your puppy age will increase by 2 years + and your puppy will never fell ill due to first six years intense care.

Puppy First Year Training

Owning a dog is fun !!! Your dog will become a friend guardian and companion to you and those who are around you but as a responsible pet owner you may know that you had made a serious personal and financial commitment. You may have a puppy right now who is starting to exhibit behavior due his breed which may or may not fit into your personality and lifestyle its up to you to try to train your pup so that he can fit into your world. Puppies first year is a video guide designed in five parts to help you to anticipate your puppys needs as he go thought critical stages in his first year of life. Some of you may have puppies and you start asking yourself why is my puppy jumping on me ? Why is he chewing my sleepers ? Why is he destroying my clothes ? We are going to tell you how to manage this problems and more... In Puppy First Year Training you will get all type of basic commands and exercise which make your puppy active and help in mental and physical growth it like a startup to your puppy make him learn while playing it is the best option to make him feel a touch of learning and improve the power of grasping with intelligence. Its really important to get a control over your puppy otherwise your puppy dominate you.

Puppy Obedience Training

Dog are pet animals in a dogs some dogs are alpha dogs once the establish leadership then other dogs are obedient to him. My balanced, step by step training methods proven to help establish leadership. When i train a dog I like to have "Working Bond" And "Love Bond" this means I am establish a leader of the dog as also I lake the dog. I dont be too stick or too lenient. The mythology i used is as follows :- First Part of the training is Teaching ===> Next Part of training is testing ===> Final part is Consistency its foundation work as it derives good results. Its a visual obedience training that after 5 weeks you get the out standing results with your dog for sure. Now you may want to know why obedience training is more important before a professional dog training it is because you make a control over your dog and dog start realizing that he had to obey you in all scenes weather willingly or not thats why obedience dog training play an important role in dogs training program. You must give a proper obedience training so that it will be very easy for you to impart dog training without any conflict. Hope you got my point best of luck. Thanks

Professional Dog Training

Professional Dog Training contain all the information that you need to control your dog in any situation the quality of dog lies not only the efforts you put in working with him but also techniques applied. Dog training is not a so much matter of training a dog but training yourself to understand what it takes to be respected as a leader in your dog mind. A well trained dog is one who get more freedom, exercise and affection during his life because the owners are happy with him and can trust there dog will respond when absolutely necessary. A properly trained dog will be happier and help you through out your life. My methods will instruct you how to honest the dog. Every dog is much smarter then most of us had even realize the reason people think that there dog is not very smart is not that the dog is lacking intelligence but the dog does not have respect for the owner as its leader. This is why you can be calling your dog and instructing them through dog trainer and dog seem to disregard his owner. We first must understand genetic makeup of the dog having knowledge of the way have been created to think make possible for us to deal in a manner which achieve results.

Bertie Oadby Inters

Kamis, 28 April 2016

The Oadby inters last night turned up with different dogs last night.  All of a sudden the dogs are grown up and feeling comfortable in the training environment which probably speaks volumes for how calm their owners must have been feeling. It is an absolute joy for me to see handlers with small dogs treat them as dogs rather than accessories and our Yorkie cross and Dachshund are proving that there is more to them than just the cute factor. That they have brains and personalities. Dog training is not just about well behaved dogs but it gives an opportunity for owners to build their dogs confidence, to give them coping mechanisms  and all of theses lead to a well balanced dog.

I am looking forward to seeing how all our inter dogs progress over the next 12 months.

Last night was also about the Bertie Foundation certificate and all of the handlers achieved success in the various elements.

Further information on theses can be obtained on: Foundation Award - download here for details

KENNEL COUGH UPDATE

Selasa, 26 April 2016

Having spoken to a vet this morning I can confirm that the information given in our handout is still applicable although I would clarify that after the coughing has stopped, in the some cases dogs can still be infectious for up to two weeks. In extreme cases this can extend to up to three months.

If your dog has not been vaccinated against kennel cough and contracts the disease it is worth having the vaccination immediately as it will help to shorten the length of the infection. In the vast number of cases there is nothing to be worried about and only the very young and old dogs can sometimes have  complications.

I am currently awaiting further advice from a vet regarding a safe vaccinating programme. I have attempted to contact all the members from the Church Langton club however one member has not completed the contact details on the form and as such this makes it difficult for us to make contact. If anyone has not heard from us would you please get in touch.

The proposed plan is that the Beginners will have a talk this week with no dogs being present, which was scheduled for next week and the Intermedates will close. Members will be advised as and when new information becomes available. If in the meantime your dog does contract kc then please inform us and seek veterinary help. It would also be a good idea to use the following:

1 Denes Garlic tablets

2 Apple Cider Vinegar in the drinking water

3 Colloidal Silver either sprayed directly into the mouth or in the drinking water. See our links page and if ordering mention me and the club.
